Assistant Professor of Theatre Studies – Theatre and Politics on 20th century stages
Holds a BA in Theatre Studies (University of Patras), MA in Performance and Culture (Goldsmiths, University of London) and PhD in Theatre Studies (Royal Holloway, University of London). He has taught theory and history of theatre in the United Kingdom (University of Kent, University of Birmingham, University of Winchester, Goldsmiths, Queen Mary, Royal Holloway, Kingston University) and the department of Performing and Digital Arts at the University of the Peloponnese. His research interests revolve around the multifaceted relationship between theatre, performance and politics with a particular focus on the intersections between citizenship, urban space and memory in Greek and European contexts. He is co-editor of Performances of Capitalism Crises and Resistance: Inside/Outside Europe (Palgrave, 2015) and the special issue ‘Dramaturgies of Change: Greek Theatre Now’ (Journal of Greek Media and Culture 3:2, 2017) and has published in international (Contemporary Theatre Review, Critical Stages/Scènes Critiques, Théâtre/Public) and Greek journals (Synthesis, Skene), as well as edited volumes and conference proceedings. He is author of Re-imagining Independence in Contemporary Greek Theatre and Performance (Cambridge University Press, 2023).
